ARAPAHOE BASIN, Colo. ” A 15-year-old Canadian ski racer was injured Monday morning when he collided with a tree during training at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area, said ski area spokeswoman Kristin Lee.

The teenage boy was race training on the Ramrod Trail when the accident occurred, Lee said. Ski patrollers treated the teen on the trail, then transported him to the base area where an ambulance rushed him to St. Anthony Central in Denver.

Lee said she did not know the boy’s name or which team he was training with, and did not know the extent of his injuries.

“We been doing (ski) training here for about a week, but I don’t know how long that specific team had been here training,” Lee said.

Ramrod is an intermediate-level run that starts at the top of the Exhibition Lift and ends at the base area.
