Teague deserved award

Dear Editor:The Dick Butera Distinguished Teacher Award was rightly bestowed on Aspen Community School’s Annie Teague. Teague is a master teacher in the progressive tradition who embodies the term “child-centered education.”I was fortunate enough to have taught with Annie in the past, and as a professor of education at Lewis and Clark College, I have often cited Teague Tales in instructing young teachers about how to respond to the natural curiosity of children. I’ve never met a teacher who could design individualized, personalized learning experiences for students the way Annie can.Congratulations to the Aspen Community School and to Annie Teague for a much deserved recognition of excellence in teaching.Dr. Liz MeadorGlenwood Springs and Portland
