Tax squabble diverts from the real issues

Dear Editor:

The ongoing argument between Charlie Leonard and Mick Ireland (“What is tax fairness? The mayor explains,” Opinion, Aug. 9, The Aspen Times) points out the basic problem with this election, which are the distractions from the critical questions with trivial crap.

Think about it: We have many more important problems to deal with, and diverting our attention away from them will not make them go away.

Are we supposed to be more concerned with how Romney spends his money than how Obama spends ours?
