Taste of success

Dear Editor: Basalt Kids Inc. has recently allocated the funds raised at the Taste of Basalt event. We are thrilled to be able to give to the three Basalt schools and would like to thank the entire community for its overwhelming support of the Taste of Basalt. Each and every restaurant, donor, volunteer and attendee has made a huge difference for our schools. The elementary school funds went to art supplies, musical equipment and funds for plays and field trips. The middle school was given funds for a dance residency, a schoolwide “broken pottery mosaic” art project and musical equipment for the band. The high school received a scholarship to be given to a graduating senior and several pieces of equipment for the band. We also enabled Basalt students to attend Glenwood Springs Community Concerts’ clarinet event. On behalf of the entire ninth annual Taste of Basalt committee, we thank you all for your continued support and look forward to seeing you at the Taste this fall!Judi Simecek, presidentDeedee Hooker, vice presidentSarah Sterling, secretaryBasalt Kids Inc.
