Take it to the Legislature

Dear Editor:

Harvie Branscomb is still asking why the city of Aspen is not releasing images of ballots from the May election. The reason, because it is against state law, has been stated repeatedly by the city and was recently supported by a ruling from the district court.

The city must uphold the laws of the state of Colorado as they currently stand, not simply as someone wishes they were written.

If Harvey or others want this law to change, address the Legislature. Change won’t come from writing countless letters to the editor or maligning the city for following the law.
