Surrounded by pros

Dear Editor:

On June 7, I fell while climbing up Lincoln Creek. It has been more than two weeks since the accident and thanks to efforts of friends, Aspen Ambulance, Mountain Rescue Aspen, Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office and Aspen Valley Hospital staff, I am happy to say that I have returned home and am recovering every day.

I was fortunate to have competent climbing partners who were able to stabilize me and initiate medical and rescue resources. There are parts of the incident which are not completely clear given my condition; however, I do recall that those on scene were calm, efficient and professional. Everyone around me was competent and reassuring, which helped me stay calm and hopeful my injuries would not be too serious.

Once at AVH I continued to receive excellent care in the emergency room, ICU and CPU. The physicians, nurses and therapists were nothing but kind, patient and positive, which in turn helped keep my spirits up.

In addition, I would like to thank my family, friends and co-workers. I appreciate all the support, phone calls, cards, flowers, food and encouragement. I have been home for more than a week and anticipate a full recovery. Every day I feel stronger and am confident I will be able to fully heal. I am so grateful to have all of you helping me during this challenging time.
