Supporting volleyball

Dear Editor:On behalf of the Defiance 18’s volleyball club team, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the Aspen Elks Lodge No. 224 for their support of our team and our trip to the Junior Olympic qualifier in Dallas this spring. As a valley-wide team, we had an incredible season, competing against much larger clubs from the Front Range. The Dallas tournament was a chance to compete against some of the premier club teams from all over the United States. Most of us have played club volleyball since middle school and have enjoyed many successes and opportunities, in part because of the generosity of the Elks Club and other businesses and organizations. We all will use the life skills and experiences that we gained as players and teammates in our future. Some of us will go on to play at the college level, and we will all continue to love and be involved in the game. The Elks Club has a wonderful tradition of providing assistance to many worthy groups, and we are fortunate to have such a great organization in our valley!Megan Raczak, Kyla Walter, Brittany Zanin and Sydney AdamsAspen High SchoolLis Nemiec and Dayne Toney, Basalt High SchoolErica Pelland, Roaring Fork High SchoolSarah Simmons, Battle Mountain High School
