Support the climate bill
With the Clean Energy Jobs and American Power Act, the climate bill put forth by Sens. John Kerry and Barbara Boxer moving slowly through the Senate, and the imperative international climate summit in Copenhagen drawing closer, now is the time to make our voices heard.
The scientific evidence is irrefutable – the planet is warming, and we stand to lose a great deal because of it. As residents of the mountain-wrapped Roaring Fork Valley, the threats facing our passions, our economy, our livelihoods and those of future generations are beating down the door. We must act quickly or it could be too late.
Please, call or write your senators. Ask them to support the climate bill. Call or write President Obama. Ask him to attend the climate summit in Copenhagen. We live in a democracy. We elected these people because we believe they can represent our needs and hopes. So if we speak then they will listen. It’s their job, and it’s ours too.
