Support Skiers hockey today

Dear Editor:

At 4 p.m. today at the Lewis Ice Arena the Aspen High School hockey team will take the ice against the No. 1 team in the state.

We will be facing the undefeated Regis Raiders, who knocked the Aspen Skiers off last year in the quarterfinals to lead to their state title. It will be our toughest game of the season so far.

We started off the season on the wrong foot with a record of 1-5 before the winter break. However, in case you didn’t know, we have found our stride and have won the last eight games, making us 8-0 in ’09. We need to keep this winning streak alive and end the year with a solid record to put us in good playoff position. But for us to do this we are going to need the support of our Aspenites.

We have had past games where there has been a big turnout of fans, and when they showed up it gave us more confidence and helped us achieve some very key wins. This is what we need today: A big game needs a big crowd. After a day of great skiing or work stop by the Aspen Recreation Center and support your local sports by helping cheer on your Aspen Skiers! The Aspen community has been so supportive of local sports, and we want to deeply thank you for your support. We hope to see you guys in the stands supporting us!
