Support local athletics

Dear Editor:

I am a proud alumna of Basalt High School and most recently Fort Lewis College. I have come back to this beautiful valley in hopes to inspire young athletes. I am the junior varsity coach for the Basalt High School girls basketball team, as well as a substitute teacher for the district.

Since my return to the valley I have recognized the lack of support for high school athletics. What’s the deal? I personally credit my success in academics to my determination to succeed in athletics. Wouldn’t you rather see your children competing and devoting their time to a positive cause rather than hanging out on your couch? Do your community a favor and support youth athletics!

Today BHS is attempting to pack the house with a “Think Pink” theme in honor of breast cancer! The games start at 4. I hope that I can prove to my team that our community does support us and want us to succeed!
