Sunset skiing, free evening gondola rides on Snowmass today

Sunset skiing returns today on Snowmass, with extended gondola hours and free lift tickets during Ullr Nights on Elk Camp.

The Elk Camp Gondola and Elk Camp Chairlift will run until 6 p.m. for skiing and snowboarding. Gondola tickets for Ullr Nights, which starts at 5:30 p.m., will be free to the public. The last upload is at 8:30 p.m. with Ullr Nights ending at 9 p.m.

Ullr Nights activities include tubing, snowbiking and s’mores and hot chocolate by the bonfire. Additional fees apply to tubing and snowbiking. Guests can dance to live music as the sun sets and enjoy an a la carte culinary celebration.

The town of Basalt is working on an update to its 2007 master plan. The document will be a blueprint for how and where the town will grow. But the family that has owned a 180-acre ranch at the edge of town for nearly 60 years objected Tuesday to the document’s parameters for its property.
