GLENWOOD SPRINGS — Sunlight Mountain Resort has taken over management of the neighboring Sunlight Inn, at least for the current ski season, after the former managers had to leave town for personal reasons.

“We decided it was too valuable a property for all of us to leave idle,” said Tom Hays, assistant general manager for Sunlight Mountain Resort.

“It’s definitely a big benefit to the whole Glenwood Springs area, and the ski area in particular, to have that available,” Hays said of the 20-room Sunlight Mountain Inn, located on Four Mile Road just below the ski resort. “So we decided to take over operation of the lodge, at least for the winter.”

The Sunlight Inn is owned separately from the resort by Sunlight Mountain Properties, although the group includes some of the same owners as the ski area, Hays said.

The lodge had been managed for the past two seasons by Clayton and Kaje Ryon, who took over after former longtime Sunlight Inn owners Pierre and Gretchen Dubois sold the property.

Managing the Sunlight Inn this season is Rachel Brown, who is the food and beverage manager for Sunlight Mountain Resort.
