Summit deputy OK after accidentally shooting herself

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. ” An female deputy with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office accidentally shot herself in her leg during a routine pistol training class Wednesday evening.

An ambulance responded to a report of a gunshot wound at the Summit County Public Firing Range at about 5:20 p.m., according to a press release issued by the department.

The deputy, who was not identified in the press release, was transported to St. Anthony’s Summit Medical Center, where she was treated for minor injuries before being released.

The firing range is divided into two separate areas, one for public use and one for law enforcement training.
