Summertime in Aspen is a blur of all kinds of special events. The Aspen Valley Medical Foundation includes a group of donors who contribute funding for the foundation, which not only gives money to Aspen Valley Hospital but to many other nonprofit groups in the Roaring Fork Valley. In late summer, Kris Marsh, director of the Foundation, held a gathering at the hospital during which she presented the donor wall with contributor’s names. The least amount you can contribute to belong to the President’s Club is $2,500. After the presentation, members of the club adjourned to the home of Dr. Archer and Sandie Bishop for a gala dinner. Dr. Bishop is president of the Aspen Valley Medical Foundation. Also in August, Dr. David and Martha Yocum held their annual Catfish Fry at their Snowmass home. The Yocums have a catfish farm in Arkansas and fly the fish, along with chefs, to the party. It is a highlight of the summer.
Jill Sheeley and her golden retriever, Fraser, recently appeared on Channel 9 News, with Jill telling about her children’s books that always feature Fraser as the hero.Undercurrent … I love the autumn smell of the golden leaves, whether they are still on the trees or in the road and paths underfoot.
