Summer arts workshops still open

Aspen Times Staff Report

Many summer workshops at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass Village are still open to interested participants.

Nearly 100 workshops in creative studies, painting, drawing, print making, digital imaging, ceramics, sculpture and other pursuits, as well as sessions for children, will be offered. In addition, two new workshops have been added: “Working with Metals” for adults, August 23-27; and “Sculpting with Wood” for children, July 12-16.

The metals workshop, with instructor Tai Pomara, will explore many approaches to metalworking, including welding, sheet-metal work and traditional blacksmithing and toolmaking.

“Sculpting with Wood” for 9- to 12-year-olds will instruct participants in the proper handling of basic woodworking tools. Students will take a trip into the forest and choose a piece of aspen for a walking stick or magic wand. They will complete the week working on projects of their own choosing. Kristin Zotolli, woodworker and furniture maker, will be the instructor.

To earn more about the new workshops and space availability in existing workshops, call the registrar at 923-3181 or visit on the web.
