Successful madness

Thank you, Aspen, for showing your commitment to our children. Aspen Education Foundation recently held its May Madness party to support the Aspen Public Schools. Just under 400 people partied to the theme of African Safari, and enjoyed dinner and dancing at the St. Regis.

What a thrill to see parents, teachers and administrators whooping it up for a good cause. The generosity of the evening’s sponsors, particularly Lenny Weinglass, as the Diamond Sponsor, and the support that was given to the raffle, live and silent auctions made it a successful evening.

Early estimates indicate that $150,000 will go to earmarked programs which include elementary and middle school math coaches, district-wide health curriculum and a new high school college counselor.

This year’s co-chairs, Lynn DeBoer and Donnie Ryan, along with the dedicated board members – Scott Alter, Kim Coates, Jeannette Consor, Cheryl Cote, Lisa DiMento, Nancy Epstein, Heidi Friedland, Lacy Fyrwald, Andi Gordon, Gretchen Greenwood, Sally Hansen, Laurie Harris, Heidi Houston, Kristin Jensen, Laura Kornasiewicz, Marian Lansburgh, Bonnie McCloskey, Eleanor Meyer, Mary Anne Meyer, Nancy Paley, Esther Pearlstone, Vicki Seyffert, Robin Van Domelen, Juliet Wilcox, Brenda Wild, and Cathy Wilson – should feel very proud of their achievements.

Thank you all for putting in the extra hours to get the job done.
