Studio B Architecture + Interiors, a renowned firm with over 34 years of award-winning expertise in modern architectural and interior design, has announced a significant transition in leadership.

Founders Scott Lindenau and Susan Okie Lindenau are passing the reins to long-time team members Sarah Harkins and Kyle Burds, who will now serve as co-owners of the firm.

The change represents an evolution rather than a departure, with Studio B maintaining its dedication to excellence while infusing fresh energy into its vision. Harkins and Burds have been pivotal to the firm’s leadership, working alongside the Lindenaus to uphold Studio B’s core values while preparing for this seamless handover.

Harkins, now based in Aspen, will lead the firm’s Aspen studio, while Burds will oversee operations in Boulder. Together, they aim to guide Studio B into a new era of innovation and creativity.

“As we pass the torch, we do so with full confidence in Sarah and Kyle’s vision and capabilities,” said founder Scott Lindenau. “They’ve been instrumental in continuing our tradition of timeless modern design while bringing fresh perspectives and approaches. This is not just a leadership change—it’s a natural evolution for the firm.”

Harkins joins the helm with an impressive background, including work on high-profile projects such as the Facebook headquarters and the Jenga Tower penthouse in Manhattan. Burds, who began his career at Studio B and later returned after working in New York, was drawn back by the firm’s culture of collaboration and innovation.

“This is an incredible honor and responsibility,” Harkins said. “We’re excited to build upon the foundation Scott and Susan have created, ensuring Studio B remains a leader in modern architecture while evolving to meet the needs of the next generation. With Kyle leading our Boulder studio and me relocating to Aspen, we’ll continue collaborating as co-owners to advance the firm’s vision.”

Studio B plans to continue its legacy of creating bespoke, mountain-inspired designs in Aspen, Boulder, and beyond while expanding its reach to national and international markets. The firm remains steadfast in its commitment to its core principles: a passion for beauty and excellence, a rigorous design process, and a collaborative, mentorship-driven culture.
