Strang memorial Feb. 3

Mike Strang’s memorial service will be held Monday, Feb. 3 at 10:30 a.m. at The Orchard in Carbondale, his family announced Wednesday. Strang passed away Sunday.

His wife, Kit, and children Scott, Laurie and Bridget asked that in lieu of flowers, people make a donation to a selected nonprofit organization, including Aspen Valley Land Trust.

AVLT operates the Lathrop Strang Memorial Fund to help defray some of the costs landowners incur while donating a conservation easement. The funds are used to conserve working ranches that have been in one family for at least 25 years.

Lathrop Strang, Mike and Kit’s late son, is no longer here to advocate for ranchers and ranching, but he continues to help insure that ranching remains in the Roaring Fork and Colorado River valleys, the family said in a statement.
