Stop the killing

Dear Editor:

There is a roundup of wild horses and burros taking place in the state of Nevada right now under the auspices of over crowding and overgrazing. The Bureau of Land Management is conducting this roundup of 12,000 animals this year with helicopters and vehicles that cause the pregnant mares so much stress they often abort and young colts die from heart failure or trampling. It is a vicious and cruel government funded attack that could culminate in the eventual loss of wild horses and burros before most of America knows we still have them in the wild. is an organization dedicated to the preservation of wild horses and burros on public lands. Please visit this site to sign an easy petition, call and send letters to state senators and representatives, as well as President Obama to intervene immediately to stop these BLM roundups and protect these animals from extinction.

There are many protests planned in cities all over the country. Please check the site for locations and dates and participate if you are able. Wild horses and burros have roamed this land for centuries and deserve the right to exist in freedom.
