Stop footing the bill

Dear Editor:Over at, President Bill Clinton’s best-known former manager, Dick Morris, tells us of the taxpayer-funded travel abuses of Rep. George Miller (D-Calif). It appears that, since 2000, we taxpayers have sent Mr. Miller packing to some two dozen foreign countries, in spite of the fact that Mr. Miller serves on no congressional foreign relations committee.Morris goes on to say, “During the same period, he has been to 20 other countries for free, paid for by the Aspen Institute. In all, Miller has spent 161 days traveling courtesy of Aspen.” May I suggest that someone in Aspen might want to give the Institute a pointer about reducing expenses while, simultaneously, decreasing its carbon footprint.Keith SchupbachScottsdale, Ariz.
