Dear Editor:Dr. Tawfik Hamid, an M.D., psychologist and scholar of Islam, will be speaking Monday, June 25 at 5 p.m. in Paepcke Auditorium, on his journey from Jihad to Islamic reform.In his student days, Dr. Hamid was recruited to be a terrorist. He now speaks out against radical Islam and has undertaken the courageous mission of reform within the Islamic religion. Among the topics Dr. Hamid will address are: “Roots of Jihad”; “Mind-Set of the Islamic Terrorist”; “Moderate Muslims”; “Arab/Israeli Conflict.” Doors will open at 4:15 p.m. The $15 entrance fee is payable at the door.Dr. Hamid’s talk is presented by ALERT (American League for Effective Responses to Terrorism), an emergent network partnering with organizations and individuals on specific projects to counter Jihad encroachments in America.
