State ski championships a great team effort

Dear Editor:On behalf of Aspen High School Athletics Department and the AHS alpine and nordic ski teams, I would like to take this time to thank all of the people who volunteered and helped to make the CHSAA State Ski Championship a success at Aspen High School.Thank you: Aspen Skiing Co.; Aspen Highlands and Aspen Highlands race crew; city of Aspen Parks, Trails, & Open Space; Aspen Valley Ski & Snowboard Club; AVSC Nordic department; Chris Klug and the Donor Dudes Foundation; Chef Jeff and his crew at the AHS Maroon Creek Kitchen; all students, faculty, administrators and staff of the Aspen School District; Aspen School District maintenance and custodial departments; city of Aspen parking department; Latter Day Saints church; Prince of Peace Church; ASD theater manager Denis Cyrus; Aspen Recreation Center; ASD Resource Officers – Paul Hufnagle and Tina Schairer; and all of the wonderful parent and community volunteers.A special thanks to Aspen High School ski coaches Craig Carlson and Travis Moore for an outstanding job of organizing everything at both the alpine and nordic races.Together we were able to present a great venue and atmosphere for the state championships!!Congratulations to the Aspen High School girls for a state-championship finish and to the Aspen High School boys for a second-place finish.Go Skiers!Carol SamsAthletic director, Aspen High School
