State legislators to hold town meeting in Basalt

Aspen Times staff report
Aspen, CO Colorado

BASALT – State Sen. Gail Schwartz (D-Snowmass Village) and State Rep. Roger Wilson (D-Glenwood Springs) will hold an open-forum town hall meeting at Basalt Friday, Jan. 28 from 5 to 6 p.m.

The meeting will be their first gathering since the 2011 legislative session started. Schwartz won a close re-election big in November to earn her second term. She is chair of the Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resource Committee and a member of the Transportation Committee.

Wilson won election in a hard-fought, three-way race. Former representative Kathleen Curry dropped her affiliation as a Democrat and sought re-election as an unaffiliated candidate. Wilson edged her out, with the Republican candidate a distant third.

Wilson is a member of the House Agriculture, Livestock and Natural Resources Committee and the Economic and Business Development Committee.

The Democrats lost control of the state house but retained control of the state senate in November.

Friday’s meeting at Basalt Town Hall is open to the public and input on any state government topic is encouraged, according to a press release from the legislators.
