Stand up for gun reform on Saturday
Dear Editor:
Please join Aspen and valley residents for a community photo shoot at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Paepcke Park to show our support for common-sense gun reform and gun-violence reduction.
We shall have a photographer and signs urging U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, Sen. Mark Udall and Sen. Michael Bennet to vote “yes” to pass sensible gun-reform legislation such as universal background checks. If you wish, wear your distinguishing work gear such as ski clothes, construction hard-hats, doctors’/nurses’ lab coats or cycling gear to show the diversity of support for common-sense gun reform.
We believe that the people of Aurora and Columbine, and the more than 3,000 people who have lost their lives to gun violence since Newtown, deserve a vote. So please come and stand up for them.
Aspen’s event is organized in conjunction with Saturday gun-violence-prevention events all over the United States in cooperation with Mayors Against Illegal Guns and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. See you there!
