Squirm Night tonight at the Pitco library
October 21, 2002
The first of two Squirm Nights, sponsored by The Aspen Times and Aspen Daily News, will be held tonight, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Pitkin County Library conference room. Refreshments will be available.
Tonight is “County Night,” which will put the county commissioner candidates in the hot seat. Tim Mooney and incumbent Patti Clapper will be there, as well as the other incumbent, Mick Ireland. Jeffrey Evans has agreed to sit in for Ireland’s challenger, Ramon Duvernay, who is recovering from an illness.
Later in the evening, the proposed Pitkin County tax question, Referendum 1A, will be debated. A panel made up opponents and proponents will answer questions from the press and the audience.
The second Squirm Night will be held tomorrow ? same time, same place. “City Night” will first feature debate on the trolley question, followed by the Entrance to Aspen. Opponents and proponents will sit on panels, and will again answer questions from the media and audience.
Everyone is encouraged to attend this free event, which will also be taped by GrassRoots Television.
