Squirm Night returns Thursday

Squirm Night is set for tonight.

Candidates vying for two open spots on Aspen City Council will square off at 5:30 p.m. in the basement chambers of City Hall; the two mayoral candidates go at 7.

The event, which is open to the public, is presented by The Aspen Times and Aspen Daily News in conjunction with GrassRoots TV and Aspen Public Radio. Editors from the two newspapers will ask questions of the candidates with Carolyn Sackariason of Aspen Public Radio serving as the moderator.

The public also is invited to query the candidates by tweeting their questions using the hashtag #SquirmNight.

Incumbent council members Art Daily and Ann Mullins are being challenged by Ward Hauenstein, Skippy Mesirow, Sue Tatem and Torre.

Two-term Mayor Steve Skadron’s seat is being contested by Lee Mulcahy.

The mail-ballot election is May 2. The City Clerk’s Office mailed out ballots Monday.
