SNOWMASS VILLAGE For its big, outdoor, youth-oriented Hi-Fi Concert Series, the Aspen Skiing Co. has generally gone loud and rowdy. So whats a string group like the Sam Bush Band doing in the lineup, with a March 22 date at Snowmass Village? Rocking out, most likely. Its been a long time since Sam Bush was anything like a normal mandolinist and fiddler. And in his decade-old, eponymous group, Bush ranges across the musical map. The bands January appearance at Belly Up Aspen started out in bluegrass fashion, covering a Bill Monroe tune. From there, it was anything goes: blues, rock, Newgrass and, with John Oates, a medley of Hall & Oates hits, including a take on Maneater as mellow reggae before moving into hi-octane bluegrass.March will bring three Spring Jam concerts to Aspen/Snowmass. A Core Party in downtown Aspen on March 20 will kick things off; the musical act has yet to be announced. Then, its Bush at Snowmass on March 22, followed by a March 27 Hi-Fi concert at the base of Aspen Mountain, also by an act yet to be announced.
