Spring caucus deadline is Monday

Residents must declare party affiliation by Monday to be eligible to participate in the spring caucuses.Local precinct caucuses for Democrats and Republicans will be March 21.Residents can register or change voter registration information at the clerk and recorder’s offices in Pitkin, Eagle and Garfield counties.In order to vote at any precinct caucus, an elector must be a resident of the precinct as of Feb. 19.Precinct caucuses select representatives to send to the county caucus, which elects delegates to the state caucus.More specific information on meeting location and times will be available soon from the county clerk’s offices. Anyone with specific questions about party issues or interested in helping with the caucus, contact the local political parties. In Pitkin County, the Democratic Party chairwoman is Camilla Auger, 544-0475. The Republican Party chairwoman is Linda McCausland, 925-4216.In Garfield County, the Democratic Party chair is Dana Barker, who can be reached by e-mail at dwbarker@comcast.net. The Republican chairman is Tom Beard, who can be e-mailed at tbeard@battlement.net.In Eagle County, the Democratic Party co-chairman for the Basalt area is Harvie Branscomb, 963-1369. The Republican Party chairman is Don Lemon, but no contact information for him was available Thursday night.
