Volleyball’s rhythm echoes across Aspen
August 31, 2013
Bump, set, spike.
The rhythm of volleyball will resonate through Aspen again today and Monday as the 41st annual MotherLode Volleyball Classic marches to its traditional Labor Day conclusion.
After Friday's afternoon rains limited play in the grass-court divisions, players were back out on the courts early Saturday to play through the tournament brackets.
Once teams hit the playoffs in their respective divisions, they went to speed-up play with one match to 28 points instead of the usual best-of-three tournament format.
Play on the sand courts, which continued through some of Friday's rain, continued in earnest Saturday.
