Splitting my vote

Dear Editor:

I am splitting my vote this year. The Democrats have given us three good candidates in state positions this year. With Sen. Wayne Allard out, Mark Udall should make a big difference in protecting the state from drilling abuses. We are also very fortunate to have both John Salazar and Jared Polis as choices for our U.S. representatives as they both have strong water and environmental interests which are critical to all of us.

Barrack Obama is a brilliant man, however I will not vote for him for several reasons. We already are going to have Democratic majorities in both houses of Congress which means any bill worth passing by the Democrats is already possible even with McCain as president. McCain is the wiser, more-balanced choice at this time. If the Democrats did not own both houses already, I might feel differently. Obama’s contributions would be better made as a senator.
