Speedos thanks Thrift Shop

Dear Editor:The Aspen Speedos Swim Team would like to express our appreciation to the Thrift Shop of Aspen for their support of the children on the swim team.As we prepared for our 2005 season, we contacted The Thrift Shop to ask their help for our team. The Thrift Shop has been a sponsor of our team in the past; and now in 2005, they have again lent their support to the children on the team. This support has helped to provide equipment for the children and coaches on the team. For this, we are tremendously grateful. We will proudly display their name on the team’s sponsor banner that hangs in the ARC aquatic center. The Thrift Shop contributes significant amounts to many deserving organizations; and we are proud to have been selected by them for their support. The Thrift Shop is able to provide support to organizations (such as ours) by accepting donated articles and then selling them. The staff is volunteer and virtually all of the sale proceeds are donated. We would like to encourage everyone not only to donate articles to the Thrift Shop but also to shop there. Not only do they have a great number of items to sell, but the proceeds go to many worthy organizations. It is also because of help from organizations such as the Thrift Shop that we will be hosting our first ever swim meet this summer. It will be an opportunity to show off our new pool and facility (and our sponsors) to the 18 swim teams on the Western Slope which represent more than 1,000 swimmers. On Wednesday, April 13, the team will be hosting its 2005 season informational meeting (5:30 p.m. at the ARC). It is a chance to learn about the team and to see why the Thrift Shop is a sponsor of our team.Thank you again Thrift Shop of Aspen … from the swimmers, coaches and parents of the Aspen Speedos.Greg KarausPresident, Aspen Speedos Swim Team
