Speak up about recreation
Finally a dream held by many in the midvalley is closer to becoming a reality. No more will parents, kids and single people have to make long drives or take the bus to get to the recreation centers in Glenwood Springs or Aspen.
This Thursday at 7 p.m. public comment is going to be taken on the proposed midvalley recreation center, otherwise known as Crown Mountain Recreation Center.
The meeting will be held in El Jebel at the Eagle County Building, at the entrance to the existing park. What do you want to see in your recreation center … an ice arena, an outdoor or indoor swimming pool, climbing wall, tennis, putt-putt golf?
Crown Mountain Park … what a great place for a midvalley recreation center which would be so close to home for so many. Dreams do come true, especially when many people work to make the dream come true. Hope you can attend in El Jebel at 7 p.m. on Thursday in the Eagle County Building!

Pitkin County and Basalt have been subsidizing the public drop-off recycling center in Basalt since 2015. Pitkin County informed Basalt it won’t contribute any longer. Basalt says it can’t provide the entire subsidy required by private company Waste Management. The future of the popular facility is in doubt.
