Soundproofing delayed at Basalt shooting range

BASALT – Colorado Parks and Wildlife says it won’t close the Lake Christine Shooting Range near Basalt for work this week after all. The agency had previously announced the range would be closed for most of this week to install upgrades and soundproofing.

“The range will now remain open until the new closure dates are announced,” the agency said in a statement.

The estimated cost for the engineering, materials and construction to soundproof and partially enclose the range is expected to be $163,550. The Colorado Parks and Wildlife Shooting Range grant program paid for $114,350 of the project. Basalt and sportsmen’s groups provided the balance.
