Sometimes, you must make enemies

I’m writing in regards to Jane Baker Veit’s very ignorant letter in Wednesday’s paper. She compares removing leadership in Iraq with removing the Israeli leader because Israel has American-made weapons and nuclear bombs.

She says Israel’s self defense and struggle to survive makes more enemies of the U.S. and puts us all in extreme danger. It sounds like Jane Baker Veit thinks the U.S. should support North Korea, Iran, Syria and Iraq so they will like us. No, Jane!

Support of the only democratic state and only real ally in the Middle East is the correct thing to do. Sometimes doing the right thing does make enemies.

Israel does have weapons of mass destruction, but is not a threat to the world like Iraq’s violent egomaniac leader who has already shown his willingness to use them.
