The Collective to host People’s Choice Art Show

Staff report

The Collective Snowmass is seeking submissions from local artists for its inaugural People’s Choice Art show, opening March 21.

The venue is now accepting paintings, drawings, photography, sketches or art in any other medium for an opportunity to win $200 and a solo exhibition.

The exhibition will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. During the show, the community will come together and cast their ballot for their favorite art pieces.

Cost to enter is $5 per art piece and the deadline for digital submissions is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19. All mediums are being accepted and submissions must be no larger than 2 feet by 3 feet. Submissions including jpgs or a link to a website can be sent to art show director Monica Montany via email at monica@allinsnowmass.com. After initial approval, the artist must deliver hang-ready artwork in person to The Collective by 5 p.m. on March 20. Artists must also pick up any unsold work after the show.

The exhibition will include beverages and appetizers, plus live music with Damian Smith. Attendees will be given a ballot at the door and the winner of the show will be announced at the end of the event. All levels of artists are encouraged to submit their pieces and invite friends to come celebrate and critique their work.

“It doesn’t matter what skill level you think you are or whether you think your pieces are gallery-ready,” Montany said in an announcement. “This is an opportunity to celebrate the talent and artistic expressions within our community. Show your stuff.”

The People’s Choice Art Show is one of three art events taking place in The Collective this month. Anderson Ranch Arts Center will host a Ranch Drawing Jam from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, where the community can come mix and mingle with an artist who will participate in a 30-minute live drawing session and then sell their work. Then, Creatures of Habit and The Collective will host a benefit for Challenge Aspen during the “Sub Terr Anean” Art Show from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday, March 29.
