In the summer of 1978, NBC filmed “The New Adventures of Heidi” staring Burl Ives as the grandfather in the Old Snowmass-Maroon Bells area. Katy Kurtzman played Heidi and Sean Marshall as Peter in the two-hour made for TV movie.

Ives, a nationally known folk singer and childrens’ book author, was no stranger to the area. He was invited to sing at the Wheeler Opera House in May 1947 and again in 1952 at the Music Tent. He showed off some of his other talents by acting and singing in this musical filmed in our majestic mountains.
