“Friday evening, May 25th, the Brush Creek school closed for the year with a program and party,” The Aspen Times announced May 31, 1934. “The program consisted of a number of recitations and a play. A prize was awarded Edward Roberts for having the highest average for the year. Charles Roberts, the only eighth grader was second. Miss Stewart presented him his diploma. After the program the older folks played cards and others spent the evening dancing. Music was furnished by Hildur Hoaglund. Refreshments were served at a late hour. The entertainment was a success both for teacher and pupils and it is to be hoped that Miss Stewart will return again next fall.”
