James C. Scripter

September 22, 1964 — July 17, 2013

Jim moved to the Roaring Fork Valley when he was 13 years old from Lakeland, Florida. He grew up in Aspen, Colorado and had a very adventurous youth. He had a passion for going very fast on motorcycles at a very young age of 8 years old. He had many adventures with motorcycles, four wheeling, sky diving, scuba diving, hiking, skiing, rock climbing, flying planes, paragliding and camping. His favorite place to camp was Moab, Utah but has camped all over Colorado.

He served on the Snowmass Wildcat Fire District for about 10 years, the first firefighter in the area to be selected for firefighter of the year for two years in a row in 1990 and 1991. He wanted so much to give back to the community to help people and loved being a part of a close knit family of firefighters. He made many friends along his journey which have meant the world to him. Jim married the love of his life on September 20, 2002 in Lakeland, FL and they made their home in the valley.
