The Buddy Program announced on May 1 that it has received a $10,000 Daniels Fund grant to support the second annual Lemonade Day in the Roaring Fork Valley. Lemonade Day, held each year in cities across America, is an experiential learning program that teaches young people how to own and operate their own businesses, according to a statement.

“The grant will enable us to grow Lemonade Day,” said Heather Hicks, Lemonade Day director. “Last year we had 394 participants from grades (kindergarten through 12). This year our goal is to reach 1,000 children from Aspen to Glenwood Springs.”

Lemonade Day registration is free and open to children in kindergarten through 12th grade. Participants sign up with a caring adult and will receive a backpack that contains both an entrepreneur and mentor workbook.

Registration opens May 6 and is available online or at the following locations:

May 6 through June 26, regular business hours at Alpine Bank in Aspen, Snowmass Village, Basalt, Willits, Carbondale and Glenwood Springs.

May 15, 3 to 6 p.m. at Pitkin County Library in Aspen.

May 18, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Aspen Recreation Center during Family Fun Day.

June 8, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wyly Community Art Center during Chalk Art.

Workshops providing ideas for creating your Lemonade Stand are available with registration and for a fee as follows:

June 17 through 21, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Aspen Art Museum.

June 21, 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Wyly Community Arts Center.
