Business as Usual: Meet me at the club
Editor’s Note: Business as Usual is a series highlighting local businesses in Snowmass Village. It is published weekly in the Snowmass Sun.
The Snowmass Club has long been the hub of summer recreation and year-round leisure in the village. Under new ownership since 2013, the Snowmass Club continues to provide a country club experience in the heart of the mountains, says Joanna Mallory, marketing and communication director.
Snowmass Sun: How did your business start?
Joanna Mallory: The Snowmass Club, founded in 1982, sits on approximately 210 acres and offers an exclusive, indulgent amenity-rich lifestyle. The course was originally laid out by Ed Seay and Arnold Palmer and was expanded and redesigned several times over the years, the latest in 2005 by James Engh. The periodic re-landscaping of the golf course led to the relocation of ranch houses and to changes in the valley floor from flat or sloping fields to rolling hills with ponds. The peaceful tranquility, intimate seclusion and reputation as a world-class resort town made the Snowmass Club the perfect choice as the newest addition to the Toll Golf division portfolio in March of 2013.
Snowmass Sun: What services or goods do you sell?
Joanna Mallory: The Snowmass Club provides an abundance of amenities and privileges, the epitome of alpine indulgence. Snowmass Club offers an all-inclusive country club experience at an incredible value and is currently selling Platinum Golf and Platinum Athletic family memberships. Both memberships are family memberships that include the primary member and spouse/partner and any kids 23 and under. All members enjoy the club amenities under the chosen membership. Snowmass Club is also host to Sage Restaurant and Black Saddle Bar and Grille. These two onsite restaurants offer phenomenal views of Mount Daly and Capitol Peak. Sage Bar and Lounge provides for a more relaxed atmosphere and Black Saddle Bar and Grille is a wonderful venue for lunch and during golf play.
Snowmass Sun: What makes your business unique?
Joanna Mallory: Snowmass Club offers all the comforts of home in one spectacular place, with the attentive service of a fine hotel and the extensive amenities of the private club lifestyle. Members gather to play golf and tennis, relax with a spa treatment, sauna, steam or hot tub, workout, take a complimentary fitness class or drop the kids off at Kids’ Club, lounge by the pool, dine and form new friendships during our social events.
Snowmass Sun: Who is your primary clientele?
Joanna Mallory: Snowmass Club has evolved into the ideal mountain lifestyle for year-round residents, second home-owners and owners of the private residences.
Snowmass Sun: What is the best thing about running a business in Snowmass?
Joanna Mallory: Being part of the small town feel and community participation.
