For a true celebration of your body, mind and spirit, you dont have to go any farther than Snowmass Village for one weekend this summer, thanks to the third annual Snowmass Wellness Experience. In the past, speakers like author Deepak Chopra have spoken on the topic of wellness that includes everything from eating well to fighting disease. This years event, Aug. 4 to 6, has been broken into three categories: nutrition, fitness and enhancing your spiritual life, with a top-notch expert speaking on the latest techniques and practices for each topic. Cat Cora, co-host of the Food Network show, Kitchen Accomplished and the only female Iron Chef, will speak about nutrition and food preparation.Chris Carmichael, founder, CEO, and president of Carmichael Training Systems and personal coach to seven-time Tour de France Champion Lance Armstrong, will speak about fitness. Debbie Ford, a bestselling author and internationally recognized expert in the field of personal transformation will talk about integrating psychology and spiritual practices. Were calling it Not your typical girls weekend, where you can grab your girlfriends, come out and learn something, said Susan Hamley, marketing director for Snowmass Village. We have a wine tasting on Friday night, and a free concert on the mountain on Saturday.Attendance by women has always been good, and Carmichaels appearance is expected to draw more men to the event, especially considering the price $25 per day. The Wellness Experience includes a full schedule of events, like yoga classes, bike tours, morning hikes and breakfasts.A large vendor village on Fanny Hill for the weekend is full of vendors with the latest in products and wellness services, like balms and ointments, nutritious snacks, yoga wear, books and massage therapists. There are also cooking classes during the weekend, and opportunities to sign up for spa treatments.People in this valley are really sensitive to wellness issues, and this event appeals to people of all ages, Hamley said. I think we realize that these things are on womens minds and that wellness is more than just seeing a doctor. This experience transcends that its taking care of whole needs. The weekend is a three-day immersion in all of the wellness classes, and can also include lodging and different amenities at one of several local lodges. The Wellness Experience has also partnered with local outfitter Blazing Adventures to provide a number of different tour specials, including sunset dinner tours, bike tours and half-day rafting trips.Snowmass is a place where you can get total immersion of wellness, from being in the mountains , to fishing and kayaking, Hamley said.
