A free screening of acclaimed wildfire documentary “Elemental: Reimagining Our Relationship With Wildfire” comes to the Snowmass Collective on Wednesday evening.
The event, which includes a panel discussion from wildfire experts, is slated for 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will be hosted by the town of Snowmass Village and Roaring Fork Fire Rescue and is designed to support the Wildfire Collaborative Roaring Fork Valley’s wildfire resilience efforts in Snowmass Village, a news release states.
“Wildfire isn’t just a forest problem — it’s a homeowner issue, a neighborhood issue, a community issue. Elemental lays out that truth with urgency and hope,” Angie Davlyn, Wildfire Collaborative Roaring Fork Valley executive director, said in the release. “We hope residents will attend to learn from the film and our panel of experts about the clear path to wildfire resilience we’re charting for Snowmass Village — and then join us in taking meaningful action to help protect our communities.”
Elemental takes viewers on a journey to better understand wildfire, according to the release.
“In the film, you’ll visit fire labs to learn why some homes survive when others do not; listen firsthand to firefighters and residents who have survived the deadliest fires; learn from Native Americans about how fire can benefit nature; and follow researchers who study the effects of fire on forests,” the release states.
In the wake of destructive fires across the nation, the solutions are now more timely and urgent than ever, according to the release.
“We hope that this screening will inspire residents and visitors to discover how we can keep our homes and communities safe,” the release states.
The film, with a runtime of 84 minutes, starts at 6:15 p.m. It is recommended for ages 12 and over.
