Snowmass Rendezvous to kick off event-filled summer
Town hopes for ‘one of biggest’ turnouts after altered start date

A Snowmass classic is returning this weekend.
The Snowmass Rendezvous, or “an afternoon of bottomless adult beverages, tunes, and local vendors,” as noted by the town, will kick off for its eighth annual year from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Base Village.
“It’s a traditional tasting event focused on micro-brews and Colorado breweries,” Snowmass Tourism Senior Events Producer Shane Vetter said.
The tasting event, produced by the agency Two Parts, will be followed by live music from Denver’s bluesy rock band Heavy Diamond Ring beginning at 6:15 p.m. in the Snowmass Mall’s Rock Garden. Tickets can be purchased for $45 at snowmassrendezvous.com. Participants must be at least 21 years old.

While the event has seen roughly 1,500 attendees in years past, Vetter hopes the rendezvous will surpass that number this year because they pushed the start date later by one week to align with Snowmass’ business openings.
“Our job here is to help support our stakeholders and our businesses,” Vetter said of the town’s commitment to work alongside local restaurants.
The Rendezvous is unique given its broad spatial reach through the heart of Snowmass. Vetter said it uses the second most territory of any Snowmass event, falling just behind the Snowmass Oktoberfest. The alcohol and food vendors will be set up throughout the Base Village, with the largest collection of games, tasting, and activities gathered at the events lawn by the bottom of the Village Express lift.

“It tends to make the visitor, the client, the customer, travel through the village — which is something I love about some of these tasting events — is that they’re not just in one place,” Vetter said.
Aspen-based DJ Erica and DJ Romy Ancona will play at the events lawn and The Collective throughout the afternoon.

As opposed to some of the later summer events, Vetter said the Rendezvous sees a larger “drive market,” or those who are driving in from around the state, as opposed to a “fly market.” Many of the attendees come from the U.S. Interstate 70 corridor, Denver, or Grand Junction, he added.
