Snowmass prescribed burn canceled
A prescribed burn scheduled in Snowmass Village has been canceled due to dry conditions.
The Snowmass-Wildcat Fire Protection District had plans to burn slash piles leftover from wildfire mitigation projects last summer over the course of this week in an area off Sinclair Road. However, conditions were too dry as of Tuesday for the department to move forward with the burn.
“That just goes to demonstrate how quickly this area can dry up even with all of the moisture we have had in recent weeks,” said Fire Marshal John T. Mele.
Historians in Aspen agree: It’s a slippery time for American democracy
Given the United States is in the throes of a constitutional crisis, now isn’t the time for debates over who’s pictured on American currency and who’s memorialized with a statue on public property, two prominent historians told an audience in Aspen on Saturday night.
