Snowmass names three finalists for tourism director
The town of Snowmass Village has named three finalists for the position of Snowmass Tourism director.
Snowmass Tourism is a municipal marketing, special events and group sales department. Town Manager Gary Suiter said the finalists for the director position, which has been open since February, are Rose Abello, Daren Cole and David Dudar.
Abello is the former director of communications for Aspen Skiing Co. She has since worked in public relations for Holland America cruise lines, according to The Aspen Times, and as an independent marketing executive doing work for local firm Ecoe Marketing most recently, according to her Linkedin profile.
Cole was the general manager of Powderhorn Mountain Resort from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, he was the vice president of sales and marketing at Crested Butte.
Dudar is an executive at a convention and visitors bureau in College Park, Georgia. He also has marketing experience at Rock Resorts, a Vail Resorts hospitality brand.
The Snowmass Tourism director position has been vacant for much of the past two years. Yan Baczkowski stepped down from the position in February after only being on the job for seven months. Susan Hamley, who ran the department for 10 years, had resigned prior to that in April 2013. Group Sales Director Fred Brodsky has filled the role during the interim periods.

Basalt mayoral candidates Bill Kane and Rob Leavitt said at a Feb. 10 forum they endorsed the town government’s $1.34 million expenditure to expand a riverfront park. Candidate and councilman Bill Infante said not so fast and provided an alternative view.
