Snowmass man breaks into liquor store

Staff report

A Snowmass Village resident faces criminal charges after breaking into a liquor store early Friday morning.

Officer James Powell was walking the Snowmass Village Mall at around 7 a.m. Friday when someone alerted him to broken glass at the Daly Bottle Shop. Surveillance video showed a man breaking the store’s glass door and stealing two bottles of booze.

Powell recognized the suspect as resident Thomas Mullins, who “readily admitted” to the act when Powell contacted him, said Police Chief Brian Olson. Mullins, 60, was subsequently arrested and has been charged with burglary, criminal mischief for the damage and petty theft. Mullins was in Pitkin County Jail as of Friday afternoon.
