Snowmass ice rink closes for season
The ice rink at Snowmass Village Town Park has closed for the season.
The outdoor rink, which is installed in the rodeo arena in the early winter every year, has been maintained by the town Parks, Recreation and Trails Department and a group of local volunteers. Weather conditions have made it difficult to keep the rink operable, a notice on the town’s website said.
“Recent warm temperatures and weather conditions have made it particularly challenging to maintain the ice surface at a safe level,” the statement said. “We appreciate the support this past season.”
The town allotted funds for parks and recreation employees to help manage a schedule for the rink as well as a skate-rental program. Use of the rink was free.
The town’s website directed people with questions to call the Parks, Recreation and Trails Department at 970-922-2240.
