Snow dumps in Aspen
November 13, 2009
ASPEN – A winter storm brought heavy snow to Aspen for all of about an hour Friday morning before tapering off to nothing. Then, suddenly, in the afternoon, it began dumping again.
Little accumulation from the morning’s brief blast of snow was evident in town by early Friday afternoon, but snow began to spit again at about 2:30 p.m. Fifteen minutes later, snow was coming down hard and blowing sideways. An hour later, the snow was still falling and starting to accumulate.
The mountains surrounding Aspen remain under a winter storm warning until 6 a.m. Saturday, and the National Weather Service was predicting accumulations of a foot more more, with heavy snow Friday night, and the potential for blowing and drifting snow.
