Snow back in Aspen forecast

ASPEN ” Predicted New Year’s Day snow did not materialize in Aspen, but the resort is under a winter weather advisory that could bring 4 to 8 inches of new snow to area mountains by Saturday night.
The Elk Mountains surrounding Aspen and Snowmass are included in a winter weather advisory that will be in effect from midnight Friday to midnight on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service office in Grand Junction.
The heaviest snow is expected Saturday morning and early afternoon, accompanied by winds gusting to 30 mph. Blowing snow, limited visibility and slippery roads are likely, the weather service cautioned. Highs in the 20s are forecast.
Partly sunny skies are expected Sunday, with highs of 15 to 25 and wind-chill readings of 2 below to 12 below in the morning. Mostly cloudy skies are forecast Monday, with highs of 15 to 25 and wind-chill readings of zero to 10 below in the morning.
In the lower valley, including Carbondale and Glenwood Springs, the weather service is calling for 1 to 3 inches of snow on Saturday and highs of 25 to 35. Partly sunny skies and highs in the 20s are forecast on Sunday.
