Snow, accidents close I-70
September 24, 2007
SUMMIT COUNTY ” Authorities have reopened westbound I-70 near the Eisenhower Tunnel after a series of accidents forced a brief closure during wintry weather.
The snow also prompted authorities to put the chain law in effect for commercial vehicles, but that has been lifted.
The east-bound lanes were not closed.
The Eisenhower Tunnel is about 60 miles west of Denver at more than 11,000 feet elevation.
